10K race celebrates Laredos 250th anniversary
Its time to don your running shoes and celebrate Laredos 250th anniversary with a scenic race through the citys historic downtown area.
Laredoheat.com, Laredos premiere nightlife website, is hosting a 10K race for runners on both sides of the border on Sunday, Jan. 23 at 8 a.m. at the Laredo Civic Center.
The route will take runners down San Bernardo Avenue and past many of Laredos most historic sites, returning to the Laredo Civic Center for the finish. Entry fee is $15 in advance, and $20 after Jan. 17. Runners can register the day of the event until 7:30 a.m.
Cash prizes totaling up to $8,000 will be awarded to the top 5 overall male and female finishers, the top 3 male and female masters finishers, and the first male and female Laredo resident.
Prizes and bonuses are as follows:
Male/Female Open Division: 1st-$800, 2nd-$500, 3rd-$400, 4th-$300, and 5th-$200.
Male/Female Masters Division: 1st-$300, 2nd-$200, and 3rd-$100.
Male/Female Top Laredo Resident: $200
Special Bonuses: First male sub-29:00, $500; or sub-28:30, $1000. First female sub-33:30, $500; or sub-33:00, $1000.
Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each of 13 age divisions.
